JAPANESE COMEDIAN AND ACTOR KANPEI HAZAMA, who is also an ultra-marathon runner, was running up Highway 89N Monday morning on his way to Tuba City. The runner is on a challenge to run and sail nonstop around the world. He left his hometown of Osaka, Japan, Dec. 17, 2008. His goal is to reach Copenhagen by Oct. 2 this year, to speak as the official ambassador for the Tokyo 2016 Olympic Bid for Tokyo to be the host city for the 2016 games. Monday was the 111th day of his journey, after sailing in a two-man sailboat across the Pacific Ocean and docking in Long Beach.
